Eating healthy? Don’t put me to sleep. Post it on Instagram that way they know it’s real.
Meal prepping has become a routine of mine for a little over a year now, and I don’t plan on stopping any time soon. I usually prep for a whole week by laying everything out on a Sunday; but some Sunday’s are busier than others. Depending on how busy I am I sometimes prep all the way up to to Wednesday, and finish the week off on Wednesday evening. In the past I never understood portion control until I received a one on one counseling from my friend Jamie, and sis does not play! Lol. The fact that I received this counseling during a brutal winter when all I wanted to do is sit up and binge watch a few shows with my favorite snacks (rolls eyes), sis was not having it. See Jamie is also an accountability partner of mine, and once I started expressing my fitness goals she made sure I kept my word. It was tough trying to piece together the concept of using my small fist to determine how much was enough, but after doing some homework I realized that my eating habits after college were not the best. I’m sure most of us are busy dealing with our day-to-day tasking while trying to balance working out, having brunch with the girls, attending meeting on top of meetings, chasing our dreams, working in our purpose; and spending some much over due time with family and friends. Just know that our mental and physical health are important, and it fuels our bodies effectively if we take care of ourselves. My pep talk to myself stated off by saying “sis, you don’t start making some healthy changes in your life you’re limiting yourself to do so much while you’re here on earth.”
Meal prepping has saved me on duty days being stuck on the ship, so I know it can work wonders for anyone. If the thought of eating clean has ever crossed your mind give meal prepping a try, you’ll thank me later. It only takes a few hours out of one day and saves you so many more throughout the week. If you’re down for a challenge here’s a few of my favorite meals that I started off with, and feel free to switch it up. Let me know how it goes! Sending love and encouragement your way! It takes 21 consecutive days to form a new habit so let’s get started, and don’t worry about failure. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Tomorrow will have its own worries.
